Now Borrowing: Moonshadow

From bestselling author Thea Harrison comes the first in an explosive new trilogy set in the Elder Races world....
Her past is a blank, her future uncertain....
Recovering from a shooting, LAPD witch consultant Sophie Ross leaves her job and travels to the U.K. to search for answers about her childhood. When she encounters a Daoine Sidhe knight of the Dark Court, she becomes entangled in an ancient hatred between two arcane forces.
He has given his body and soul to fight for his people....
Barred from his homeland along with his surviving brother knights, Nikolas Sevigny is embroiled in a conflict that threatens everything he holds dear. Only by uniting his people's resources can they hope to prevail against Isabeau, the deadly Queen of the Light Court. He will do anything and use anyone to return home to Lyonesse.
When Nikolas encounters Sophie, he sees a tool to be used. The insouciant witch might be the key to unlocking every passageway that has been barred to the knights of the Dark Court, even as a fascination for her takes root in what's left of his soul.
Sophie has no intention of becoming anyone's pawn, yet the fierce Nikolas is so compelling, she can't deny the temptation that endangers her guarded heart.
As magic threatens Lyonesse, Queen Isabeau unleashes her merciless Hounds, and Nikolas and Sophie become embroiled in a race for survival. Meanwhile, the passion that ignites between them burns too hot to be denied and quickly turns into obsession.
Thank goodness they both know better than to fall in love...

This new chapter in the world of the Elder Race is a wonderful pick-up of the breadcrumbs from Shadow’s End about the Elder Races in the United Kingdom. It’s a fresh look at a world that is already rich and vibrant with interesting characters and life. With this new landscape we get to see how the Elder-half lives across the pond. From the very beginning, it’s obvious that things aren’t anywhere near the same as the US demesnes.

Thea Harrison starts a new trilogy in the world of the Elder Races. Meet Sophie, “mostly” human witch with a blank slate for a past and Nikolas Sevigny is a broody Daoine Sidhe knight trying to protect himself and his men and find a way back home before the enemy Queen wipes them out. They meet under violent circumstances and seriously get off on the wrong foot. Nikolas has no give in him and Sophie doesn’t back down, not even from a fight. The conflict between them is as tangible as the chemistry. But as they learn about each other they see that they may just be exactly what the other needs. Harrison does not disappoint with this latest offering hitting all the high points for a steamy, witty, action-filled story.

Thea Harrison has an unmatched and unique way of approaching both her heroes and heroines that just makes you fall into their world, their problems, and actively root for them to best the challenges they face. I’ve never read a heroine i didn’t like (even when they were driving me crazy with their decisions) or a hero who I didn’t covet as a boyfriend (even when they’re being bossy as all get out). Harrison doesn’t rely on the “love wins” motto to resolve her stories her couples not only dig in to face danger, betrayal, and epic-level magic users intent on their destruction. Each pair digs in to face their fears, wants, needs, desires and ultimately each other.

I’m all in and ready to see what this expanded world brings. There’s a whole host of new possibilities on the horizon and I can barely contain my excitement. I also feel the need to learn how to make magic bullets…

I like this book so much it’s my December e-book pick in my local indie bookstore Mysterious Galaxy
