Now Borrowing: Silver Silence

New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh returns to her extraordinary Psy-Changeling world with a story of wild passion and darkest betrayal...

Control. Precision. Family. These are the principles that drive Silver Mercant. At a time when the fledgling Trinity Accord seeks to unite a divided world, with Silver playing a crucial role as director of a worldwide emergency response network, wildness and chaos are the last things she needs in her life. But that's exactly what Valentin Nikolaev, alpha of the StoneWater bears, brings with him.

Valentin has never met a more fascinating woman. Though Silver is ruled by Silence--her mind clear of all emotion--Valentin senses a whisper of fire around her. That's what keeps him climbing apartment buildings to be near her. But when a shadow assassin almost succeeds in poisoning Silver, the stakes become deadly serious...and Silver finds herself in the heart of a powerful bear clan.

Her would-be assassin has no idea what their poison has unleashed...

Overall Review: Silver Mercant, director of the worldwide emergency response network, scion of the ruthless Mercants, is a linchpin to the fragile peace someone wants removed…permanently.  Silence shifts focus to the Psy and humans reinvigorating Singh’s series with new romances and dangers. And, Singh’s Bears are a whole new reason to root for changelings. Valentin, Alpha of the Stonewater Bears, is charismatic, sharp-witted, and exactly what the laser-focused Silver needs…because Bears.

Singh weaves threats from shadowy figures, showcases previously secondary characters, and brings a new edge to the challenges in this world. Silver Silence begins a “new season” but it is not good place to jump into the series. It’s an intriguing start to a new story arc and I want to be Grandmother Mercant when I grow up.

5 out of 5

This is one of those books that if you’re  fan of the series nothing more really needs to be said and if you’re not, it’s a great time to hop on board …because bears.

I stayed up all night reading the e-book when it loaded then turned right around and read it again the next day.

This book was my June paranormal romance pick for Mysterious Galaxy
